From: "Google Legal" To: iffyatbestdotcom Subject: RE: Improper use of Google trademark... Date: Tue, 8 Jan 2002 11:36:08 -0800 Dear Sirs, It has come to our attention that you are using the Google trademark and logo improperly in a manner that plainly infringes our trademark rights. Among other things, you falsely assert at http://[ip deleted]/3.html that Google has gathered logs of AOL instant messenger data. These infringing pages give rise to the possibility of damages and injunctive relief under U.S. trademark and unfair competition laws. While we do not tolerate such infringing uses, we hope that this was an innocent mistake. Accordingly, we demand that you reply to this email and agree to the following conditions by January 14. If you fail to do so, we will consider pursuing our legal rights and remedies. 1. You will promptly remove the following two web pages: http://[ip address deleted]/3.html and http://[ip address deleted]/aimsearch. 2. You will promptly remove any other web pages under your control that use the Google trademark or logo. 3. You will not now or in the future use the Google trademark or logo without first seeking Google's written consent. Thank you, Google Legal Department
