The highlight of the Tourist Trap came early on when Putnam Livermore ("as in the Town of Livermore, as in Mt. Livermore," according to a bystanding neighbor) took an interest in our group and delived a fascinating impromptu historical survey of the area. Actually, to the tell the truth, he was at first a little worried that our small gang of bikers would damage the lawn and shrubbery of the magnificent park atop Vallejo Street, which his wife spends long hours caring for. But as he warmed up to us (and after securing his wife's permission) the gentlemanly Putnam ushered us into his Willis Polk-designed home and out onto his roof-top patio, where he pointed out neighboring buildings by Julia Morgan and others.
