The pond is off of Bear Creek, which drains off LaTour Butte near the town of Viola. I passed through those parts on a wonderful route comprising Buzzard's Roost Rd., Phillips Rd., Oak Run to Fern Rd., Fern Rd. East, Whitmore Rd., and Ponderosa Way (where I saw a famous Country Music singer in a red Hummer). Basically into and back up out of eight separate drainages crammed into an approximately 25-mile stretch of idyllic Cascade backroads from Rount Mtn. to Inwood.
